President Dean Schlitter opened the meeting at Edgewater Golf Course.

We welcomed Kara from Veridian, she reported that Laura Sires had a baby boy this morning, Felix Oz, 6# 7oz. Congratulations to Laura and family!

Al and Dean will be attending the Docs for Hope meeting on May 6th at 8:00 a.m. in New Hampton.  If you would like to attend as well, please contact them.

Dean, Susan, Kent and Joan attended the Rotary District conference last Friday.  Dean announced that the Oelwein Rotary received the Presidential Citation.  Thanks to all who made that happen.                     

Sandie Graf’s name was drawn for the jackpot of $29.00, she will donate to Relay for Life for a friend of hers who is battling cancer.

Our speakers Teresa Wiemerslage, ISU extension and Emily Turk, Food & Fitness.  They donated a food box which was won by Steve Westerberg, he donated it to Kathie Larsen for ALC. Thanks to all.   This note is from Kathie:I would like to thank Steve W. for very graciously donating his food box winnings to ALC. Thanks also to the "cheerleaders" who pressured him into it! Happy Bucks were given Mike Kerns who was happy to see a blighted house torn down this morning, Gene Fuelling who survived terribly hot (85 degree weather this past week). Matt Vogel who reported the Polar Plunge has made its way to Paraguay; Fernando was challenged by Tyler Vogel.  Kent Nelson congratulated Dean on the Presidential award.  Dean Schlitter was also happy about the award.

The Oelwein Public Library will be hosting Jane Elliot at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 30th.  Jane was the Riceville teacher who did the Brown eye/Blue eye discrimination exercise with her class.

The Daddy/Daughter dance will be Saturday, May 3rd for preschool thru 5th grade girls and their dads.  A grand march will be at 6:00 for $2 each.

We welcomed Todd Bradley as a new Rotarian today.

Dean Schlitter reported that he was honored to receive Walt Saur’s past president’s pin from his wife Jane.  Dean wore it at the conference in honor of Walt.
