President Dean Schlitter opened the meeting at Edgewater Golf Course

Dean Schlitter’s name was drawn for the $13.50 jackpot today he generously donated back to the club.

Americore will be in Oelwein July 22nd through August 8th, they plan to speak to the club and join us for a meal.

July 9th, Dean Schlitter will attend the District Club meeting for the installation of the new District Governor.  Rotary Grants are to be awarded that night as well.

Clint Berryman put out a request for a member to pick up our foreign exchange student, Fernando, at the Amana Colonies on July 10th when he returns from his month long tour of the USA.  Member Paul Schmitz’ wife Barb and daughter Molly have graciously volunteered to pick him up. Thank you to the Schmitz family!

Brian Batterson was awarded the past president pin and plaque. Thank you to Brian for his hard work last year.

New board members include Deb Howard and Laura Sires. Board meetings will be held the 2nd Monday of each month immediately following the regular meeting. The Rotary slogan for next year – “Engaged Rotarians change lives” On September 9th the new District Governor will present at our meeting. Happy bucks:  Gene Fuelling was happy to see a resident eagle on Lake Oelwein; Mike Kerns was happy to sleep in his own bed after weeks of remodeling his house; Jon King returned from a vacation to South Dakota; Deb Howard shared a story of the Christmas angel fundraiser and congratulated Ken’s Electric as the Northeast Iowa Business of the Year; Jake Blitsch saw two seagulls this morning in Oelwein; Kathie Larsen congratulated the group that put on the well planned Oelwein Celebration;

Our speaker today was Drayvon Roskin and Jake Blitsch, Boys State.
