President Dean Schlitter opened the meeting at Luigis

Our speaker today was Bob Bouska who also gave a tour of East Penn/Deka Batteries.

Thank you notes were received from the Fuellings and the Sanders for their anniversary flowers.

Jaime Letzring announced that Oelwein Fire Chief, Wallace Rundle will be presented with the Governor’s volunteer award at Gallagher Bluedorn on June 17th.

OCAD summer series was held Thursday, June 12th , it was deemed a success with about 300 people attending, the next in the series is July 10th.

OCAD golf tournament will be held June 27th at Edgewater, they are still accepting teams.

 

The Rotary Poker Bicycle Run will be held June 19th from 6-8 p.m. Meet at the Veteran’s Sports complex at 5:45.  The ending is at Wings Park where water and lemonade will be served.  No early sign up is necessary just begin at the Sports complex. $10 entry fee and the chance to win Oelwein dollars.

Ragbrai will be in Oelwein on Friday, July 25th.  Kent, Brian, Susan, Brett, Al, Ashley, Kathie +1, and Curt stated they would be available to work the booth during this event, others will still get a chance to sign up at a future meeting.  Kent Nelson and Dean Schlitter will co-chair the committee.  Non-Rotarians are also welcome to help make this a success.

Note this date change:  The Rotary Golf Tournament will be held August 23rd          

Brett Ingersol’s name was drawn for the jackpot of $10.00, congrats, Brett!

Happy Bucks were given by:  Charlene Stocker who will be salmon fishing with her grandson, but will have to miss Ragbrai on July 25th.  Deb Howard who was pleased with the summers series and that there will be fencing at trees put in at the plaza.  Jamie Lezring attended a weekend wedding.  Al Sanderson had a good weekend.  Kent Nelson has family from Colorado who always seem to bring the humidity with them.  Steve Sanders was happy to have 9 couples attend couples league at Hickory Grove Friday night and also the 20 four-somes that attended the Tengo tournament on Saturday. Joan Loew’s son is flying to Madrid tonight to visit his sister.  Sandie Graf attended the NICC golf tournament on Saturday. Dean Schlitter was happy to make it through his annual ministry conference without too much stress.  Brett Ingersol will enjoy the summer series more when the fences are put in the plaza.
