Rotary Minutes – 09/22/14
Dean Schlitter, Past President, called the meeting to order. Joan Loew and Vice President, Brett Ingersoll were both absent.
 
No Student Rotarians were present.
Anniversary wishes to CJ & Jackie Lensing.
No Birthdays or Member Anniversaries this week.
 
Announcements:
Fall Fling is this Saturday, Sept. 27th beginning at 10 am. Many activities will be taking place during the day ending with a street dance from 7:30-11:30pm.
 
Pancake Breakfast was served last Saturday at Birdnow’s Motortrade for their customer appreciation. Birdnow’s will donate $500 to the Oelwein Rotary Club for preparing and serving the breakfast. Fun was had by all that helped!
 
Mayoral Candidate Forum was discussed. Oelwein Rotary will host the event. The tentative time and date is Oct. 1st at 7:00 pm. The location of the event is yet to be determined. Questions will be written by members of our club and presented to the candidates. Public questions can be written out and submitted the evening of the event prior to the start of the event. Kathy Larsen, Todd Bradley and Sarah Lewis will be the Rotary panel to choose the questions presented. The event will be recorded. If Rotary members would like to submit questions, they should be emailed to Jamie Letzring or Joan Loew by Friday, Sept. 26th.
 
Drawing was held for $10 - #6 Gene Fuelling won the pot and donated all back to the club.

Today’s program was presented by Amy Geiger, VP Donor Development of the Hall-Perrine Cancer Center at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. She gave statistics and facts regarding cancer and explained the new equipment and treatments available.
 
Next meeting will be Monday, Sept. 29th at 12:00 Noon at Luigi’s.
