Our guests today were Florian Denis, our foreign exchange student from Belgium and his host brother, Kyle Bouska. We also welcomed our student Rotarians, Tanner Rau and Rachel Bearinger.

 

Sarah Lewis’ name was drawn for the $10 jackpot today, Congrats, Sarah!

Friends of the Library will host an appreciation tea on Thursday, Sept 12th at 2:00 p.m.  Author, Joslyn Green will present on the Civil War.

 

Oelwein Health Care will be hosting Business After 5 on Sept 18th at 5:00 at the shelter.

 

Rotary will participate in the OCAD Fall Fling on Sept 28th.  Members will have a booth for citizens to drop off their old prescription drugs.

 

There will be a joint meeting of the area Rotary clubs at noon on October 7th at West Union. Please plan to meet at the Oelwein library to car pool to the meeting.  That will be our meeting for the week.

 

Happy Bucks – Mike Kerns is happy the Bears are undefeated, Steve Sanders was happy to have spent the weekend with his grandson and happy to report the Vogel/Sanders garage sale a success, Gene Fuelling was happy to report that at least one of the Regents schools is still undefeated, Kent Nelson is happy to report that Fidelity Bank will host a customer appreciation night, Thursday, Sept 12th and also he and his wife returned from a visit to their daughter in Toledo, OH., Joan Loew’s daughter will be moving to Spain Saturday to teach English for a year, she also reminded everyone of the school board election tomorrow, Sept 10th in which Charlene Stocker is running.  Charlene Stocker also mentioned Candace King is up for reelection and Gene Fueling is also up for NICC election and he requested a vote in favor of the 20 ¼ cent tax for NICC which is the same levy they have had in place since 1966. Deb Howard reported that after 1 year she is cancer free! Matt Vogel reported after 22 years they finally have an empty house. Ashley Kuhlman was able to take a mini-honeymoon to Chicago after her Aug 24th wedding, the real honeymoon will be in January to Mexico,

President Schlitter announced his goal for the club of 40 members by then end of June next year. We currently have 35 members.  Members are encouraged to invite prospective members to visit the club.
